Abstract

This research paper examines the Maqbūl (acceptable) narrations of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās (R.A.) concerning al-Naskh as transmitted in various books of Tafsīr. These narrations vary in terms of the reliability of their narrators and chains of transmission. Some are classified as Ḍaʿīf (weak), while others are considered Maqbūl (acceptable). The present study focuses specifically on the Maqbūl narrations of Ibn ʿAbbās (R.A.) related to al-Naskh and seeks to collect and verify them systematically. The study addresses the following research questions: What are the Maqbūl narrations of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās (R.A.) concerning al-Naskh? Through how many chains of transmission have these narrations been reported? The research identifies four Maqbūl chains of transmission leading to Ibn ʿAbbās (R.A.). The first chain contains 14 narrations, the second contains 6, the third contains 4, and the fourth contains 16, making a total of 40 Maqbūl narrations. The study employs a methodology based on the collection, verification, and analysis of the relevant narrations and their chains of transmission. Through the critical examination of these narrations, the research aims to provide a systematic account of the Maqbūl narrations of Ibn ʿAbbās (R.A.) concerning al-Naskh and to contribute to a clearer understanding of their status and transmission in the Tafsīr literature.
