Intersex individuals, born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn't fit typical male or female classifications, often face significant psychological challenges due to societal stigma, discrimination, and lack of understanding. This study aimed to investigate the psychological problems experienced by intersex individuals in Mardan district Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining surveys and in-depth interviews with many intersex individuals. Results revealed high levels of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem among intersex participants, stemming from social rejection, gender identity confusion, and inadequate support. Themes of shame, guilt, and isolation emerged from the qualitative data. The study highlights the urgent need for awareness campaigns, psychological support services, and legal protections to address the mental health concerns of intersex individuals in society. Healthcare providers, policymakers, and family members must work together to create a supportive environment, acknowledging the rights and dignity of intersex individuals. By shedding light on this marginalized group's struggles, we can promote inclusivity and ensure equal opportunities for all.
