Within the context of Islam, family is revered as a cornerstone of society, with Allah's guidance emphasizing the sanctity of relationships. Despite recognizing the economic autonomy of both genders, Islam also underscores the importance of balanced familial responsibilities. In contemporary times, women have made significant strides across various domains, including the professional sphere. However, the pursuit of careers often poses intricate challenges in maintaining harmonious family dynamics. This study delves into the experiences of female government school teachers in Islamabad, aiming to understand the impact of their professional commitments on their familial roles. Employing a mixed-method approach involving interviews and questionnaires, data was gathered from educators within educational institutions. The questionnaire, supplemented by three open-ended inquiries, facilitated a nuanced exploration of their experiences. Analysis of the collected data reveals multifaceted insights into the interplay between professional endeavours and familial responsibilities. From nurturing children to navigating relationships with in-laws, participants elucidated on the complexities they face in balancing professional and domestic duties. Moreover, the study highlights the adverse effects on mental and physical well-being arising from these challenges, ultimately influencing work performance. By shedding light on these intricacies, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the intersection between professional aspirations and family life among female educators. Insights gleaned from this study can inform policies and interventions aimed at supporting working women in achieving equilibrium between their professional endeavours and familial obligations.
