This study examines the Baloch nation and Balochistan with a focus on its geographical and political background, as well as its historical role as Bab-ul-Islam. It explores the origin of the term “Baloch” through various historical interpretations, highlighting the diversity of scholarly opinions regarding its etymology and ethnic roots. The research also traces the historical evolution of Balochistan as a region, emphasizing its strategic location across present-day Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan, and its geographical and economic significance. Furthermore, it analyzes the importance of Makran as a key route for the early arrival and spread of Islam into South Asia. The study concludes that Balochistan served as an important gateway for Islamic expansion, where the process of Islamization was gradual and marked by resistance, unlike the relatively rapid conquest of Sindh under Muhammad ibn Qasim. Overall, Balochistan holds a significant place in the historical, political, and religious landscape of the region.
