This study explores the extent to which al-Tafsīr al-Kāshif, authored by ʿAllāmah Muḥammad Jawād Mughniyyah, aligns with the objectives of Islamic law (Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah). Recognizing that the Maqāṣid represent the higher aims and wisdoms behind the divine rulings, this research analytically examines how these objectives are reflected in Mughniyyah’s interpretative methodology. The study adopts a qualitative, content-based approach to assess whether the exegete’s insights correspond with the preservation of the five fundamental objectives of the Sharīʿah: religion, life, intellect, progeny, and wealth. By investigating selected verses and thematic discussions within al-Tafsīr al-Kāshif, the paper highlights the degree of compatibility between Mughniyyah’s hermeneutical framework and the principles of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah. The findings reveal a conscious and structured integration of higher legal objectives in the tafsīr, underscoring its relevance to contemporary Qur’ānic interpretation and Islamic legal thought.
