The Quraysh of Makkah could not tolerate the continued success of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and the Muslims, so they made a program among themselves to boycott Banū Hāshim and Banū Muṭṭalib, not to do business nor associate in any area with them. They should not even have matrimonial relations with them, on this they tried to make the rest of the tribes of Makkah their allies and made a written agreement which was signed by their leading people, which agreement they signed in the Kaʻaba. Suspended, Banū Hāshim and Banū Muṭṭalib along with Prophet (ﷺ) were surrounded in Shaʻab Abī Ṭālib, and endured hunger, thirst and hardships for three years. This agreement is also mentioned in the authentic books of Ḥadīth and Sīrah. The siege of the Prophet (ﷺ) and the Muslims in the camp of Abī Ṭālib and the social boycott of them by the Quraysh of Makkah were apparently a cause of hardships and sufferings for them, but if we consider it, it was actually the wisdom of Allah to save his Messenger and the Muslims from hardships and sufferings, to enable them to successfully face the difficulties and sufferings encountered in the path of religion, so history testifies that later Muslims faced difficulties with great courage and bravery and achieved glorious achievements.
