Abstract

The concepts of Qillat (scarcity) and Kathrat (abundance) hold a significant role in various branches of Islamic sciences, including the Qur’ān, Hadīth, and jurisprudence. Numerous Aḥkām (injunctions) in Islamic law are influenced by these two principles, particularly in areas such as Ṭahārat (purity), ʻIbādat (worship), and financial transactions. Despite their prominence, no comprehensive study has yet explored the effects of Qillat and Kathrat on these injunctions in a systematic manner. This research seeks to fill this gap by analyzing how Islamic jurists have derived rulings using these concepts across different domains. By exploring the nuances of Qillat and Kathrat, the study will shed light on how they influence various religious obligations and legal principles in Islam. It also aims to provide valuable insights for contemporary scholars, helping them understand the foundational principles of Islamic jurisprudence in a deeper context. Ultimately, this research will contribute to the development of a more nuanced understanding of Islamic law and serve as a guide for future scholars who wish to explore the interplay of scarcity and abundance in the application of Islamic rulings.
