Abstract

The Islamic ordinances, ordained by Allah, exhibit dynamic flexibility, facilitating their application across diverse eras and circumstances. As time advances, new challenges arise, and existing issues evolve, assuming new dimensions, such as online marriage and divorce in family laws, judicial divorce, and adoption, which have recently come to the fore. Conversely, self-inferred interpretations of the Qur'ān and Ḥadīth yield new issues, evident in court decisions related to ʻIddah, which raise significant jurisprudential concerns. A perspective has emerged suggesting that the prescribed ʻIddah period can be reduced based on information from modern technologies. Therefore, a comprehensive review is essential to clarify the surrounding ambiguity and nuances. With this necessity in mind, this article provides an in-depth examination of the discussions surrounding ʻIddah.
