Abstract

Sīrah of the Prophet (ﷺ) is the main source of Islamic Shariah and literature whose main language is Arabic. The current Urdu collection of Sīrah books competes with the number of Arabic Sīrah books. Basic Arabic books of Sīrah have been translated into Urdu. Sometimes translators have translated something that does not cover the true meaning of the original Arabic word. This results in the entry of something that is far from the truth. When it is searched in the original books or the dictionary books, the meaning and connotation become something else. There is also the fact that in a tradition there is some translation of this particular word and sometimes the author writes another word instead of this particular word which either makes it easier to understand or the matter becomes more complicated. This article gives an example of translation in which there is a difference between the original and the real meaning of the Arabic word and this makes it difficult to understand the incident. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the contradictions that may arise due to inaccuracies in the translation of the events of Sīrah and to understand the events of Sīrah in their proper context.
