A Comparative and Analytical Study of the Objectives of Education in the Age of Prophet hood and the Modern Era

Abstract

Allāh blessed Prophets with teachings for human guidance. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the last Prophet of Allāh and his teachings are also the last. The question is, what were the objectives of his teachings? And are the educational objectives of the present age compatible with education? Using the historical and analytical method of research and using the primary sources, it was proved that in the age Apostleship , factors related to the recognition of Allāh, rights, worship, polytheism, heaven,  hell, Prophethood, morals, justice, residence, earth, universe, food, technical skills and scientific sciences were education’s objectives .While in contemporary Muslim countries and especially in Pakistan, people and education aligned with Islamic philosophy of life, technical and scientific education, economic strength, promotion of religious values and  educational right are objectives of education. By comparing, the result was that the objectives of contemporary education may be a partial form of educational objectives of age Apostleship, but not the complete harmony that the Muslim Ummah needs. It is necessary that individual and collective attention should be directed towards both types of goals and the national resources and priorities should be spent on religious goals just as they are spent on modern goals so that our education system becomes a means of achieving both types of goals. They will use it in national and religious interests. In this way, compatibility and harmony can be created between the educational goals of the Prophethood and the contemporary areas of education.
