Monthly Nau-Nihāl was founded by Ḥakīm Muḥammad Saeed, the founder of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, in Karachi. It was first published in July 1953, and its publication continues till today. According to the founder's vision, the purpose of launching this magazine was to promote literature and book reading among children, as well as to improve their morals and behavior, and to educate and train them on the right lines of conduct. Through its writings, Nau-Nihāl instilled moral values in children, creating an atmosphere in which moral lessons could be subtly imparted to them. In this regard, teachings from the Qur’ān, Sunnah, and the lives of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions were utilized step by step. Thus, through the publication of moral literature in Nau-Nihāl, Islamic teachings became widespread, and children acquired basic religious knowledge. Besides pure religious and moral topics, Nau-Nihāl also covers other subjects such as science, sociology, humor, etc. There is no research work published on the Islamic aspect of this magazine. Keeping this point, this article is limited to the writings of Nau-Nihāl related to Islamic teachings only.
